The largest volunteer effort in California, Coastal Cleanup Day is our day to give back to the ocean, beaches, and creeks that make Santa Barbara County such a wonderful place to live.Get outside, enjoy nature, and and remove marine debris from our beaches and waterways.

Volunteers of all ages can participate in Surf Happens annual cleanup of our home beach, Santa Claus Lane. We will meet on the south end of the beach at "Surf Happens peak" (looks for the Surf Lessons sign pointing to the beach and follow the sand trail).

Community service hours provided if needed!

Beach cleanup captain: Jenny 805-235-8783

The event is part of the International Coastal Cleanup, organized by the Ocean Conservancy, which is the largest volunteer event on the planet!

California Coastal Cleanup Day

Every year, on the third Saturday in September, people join together at sites all over California to take part in the State's largest volunteer event, California Coastal Cleanup Day. In 2013, over 58,000 volunteers removed almost 750,000 pounds of trash and recyclables from California's beaches, lakes, and waterways. Families, friends, coworkers, scout troops, school groups, service clubs, and individuals come together to celebrate and share their appreciation of California's fabulous coast and waterways. The event is part of the International Coastal Cleanup, organized by the Ocean Conservancy, which is the largest volunteer event on the planet!
